Our Team
Corey Thomas
President
Corey got introduced to the industry at 18 working for the Del Mar Marriott in San Diego and quickly discovered his passion for hospitality. After almost a decade with the company, he made the jump to privately owned restaurants and quickly moved up from Lead Server to FOH Manager then AGM. After a restaurant closure at the end of 2018, he transitioned into Bar Management and fell in love with the world of beverage. He ran several successful programs in San Diego, including Bankers Hill Bar & Restaurant. In 2021, he made the move to Portland Oregon and has since focused on bringing thoughtfully constructed cocktails to the suburbs. He is currently working for Spire Hospitality reconceptualizing the F&B program at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lake Oswego.
Mae Goulet
Vice President, Secretary
Despite only being a professional bartender since 2023, Mae has been in the hospitality and service industry for 18 years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems where she focused on Alcohol Fermentation and Production. A transplant from New Hampshire, Mae moved to Hood River, Oregon with her dog and lizard to manage cider apple orchards in 2018. Her love and passion for the spirits and cocktails industry boomed after working at Hood River Distillers in 2020; she made a difficult decision to leave the company in 2023 to move to Portland in pursuit of craft cocktail bartending. Now the Lead Bartender at Bar Carlo on SE Foster, Mae’s career has skyrocketed due to her self-propelled education and ‘field work’ (aka enjoying a craft cocktail at any one of Portland’s beautiful bars). Mae is a now a cat mom to two sweet baby angels and her bearded dragon. She is usually found with her nose deep in a book or in a deep squat at the gym. Mae plans to help bring the Bartender’s Guild to outer reaches of Oregon and create an inviting, ‘come-as-you-are’ vibe to the Guild.
Alyssa Eveleth
Treasurer
Alyssa started out bartending at 21 as she finished her biology degree at Virginia Tech. After graduation she began a career in healthcare working as an MA and limited Radiological Technician at a Podiatry office. After moving to Portland she continued work in medical office administration doing everything: surgical scheduling, coding, office management & executive assistant roles. It soon became clear that this was not the life she wanted. In transitioning out of the medical field, Alyssa re-discovered bartending and the exhilaration of the dinner rush working in a popular taproom. After that, she found herself working in a downtown Portland hotel and being introduced to new techniques and immersed into the world of craft cocktails. Totally obsessed now, she strives to learn as much as possible in the world of wine, spirits, flavors, extractions, infusions and more. An opportunity to take a course through the Wine and Spirits Education Trust at Linwood University allowed her to receive her WSET level 2 Award in Wine. She’s recently received a certification in Canadian Whisky and plans to continue learning through various certification programs and bartender community events. Alyssa lives in Southeast Portland with her dog, cats, various other pets and “possibly too many” houseplants. If you see her out and she’s not behind the bar, you can bet she’s at the pool table - an active APA league player for 17 years and an active BCA player for over 10 - she’s almost always up for a game. Outside of the bar she enjoys many other crafts - woodwork, leathercraft, sewing, art of various media - and music: playing bass or going to live shows or festivals.
Xander Alameida
Auxiliary
Xander was born in the arctic wastelands of Santa Barbara in the middle of winter in a year no one can recall. His first bartending gig was at the age of 9 for his Abuelita’s 70th birthday in Mexico at her casa. He moved to Portland more than 20 years ago and has been in the service industry professionally since 2012. He was voted Portland’s Best Bartender via the Willamette Week’s Best of Portland 2023-2024 and nominated again in the top five for 2024-2025 and won the nationwide Siempre Tequila cocktail competition in December 2024. In September of 2023, he married his lovely Doctor Wife Kristin and they live in a lovely gothic Victorian 1894 farmhouse in the Boise neighborhood. In their spare time, they love to travel to all parts of this beautiful nation, write books, host the Bar Therapy podcast, and curate their lovely basement bar called “The Grey Duck” with which also holds their extensive vinyl collection, library, and art gallery. They love home cooking every day and creating fun new cocktails at home. They love visiting ghost towns and pioneer cemeteries in the state and beyond. They just got a new puppy named Lone Star who is their barback at home. Xander very much looks forward to helping the Oregon Bartenders’ Guild expand throughout the state.
